Public Purpose

PURPOSE

The Gadsden Soil and Water Conservation District was organized March 17, 1942, by the people of Gadsden County; to develop, keep current and direct a sound program of soil and water conservation in keeping with the needs of the land users and the land; as well as units of government. The broad objectives of the District are the wise use of our natural resources; the control of erosion; the management and control of water to reduce floods and provide for its beneficial use; and in general, the protection of the health, safety and welfare of the people in the district. In line with these objectives, it is furthermore the purpose of the District to keep people informed as to the problems in soil and water conservation and how these problems may be solved through the District program and the progress being made.
